"Wishful Thinking"
If I had
my wish
I would be
calm under pressure
bright on the dark days,
confident that every
thing will be okay.
Here's to our wishes
may we cup them
in hands of hope
and gently release
them like butterflies,
watch them come true.
Today is a good day to give thanks. I am thankful for YOU, dear reader! Wishing you a bit of stillness, and the blessings of gratitude, today and every day.
Happy Thanksgiving!
there's a stillness this morning
the sparrows are hushed
as if waiting for humanity
to arise in thanksgiving
no sun this morning
only grayness
thickened with fog
yet in the dreariness
the roosters are crowing
birds are twittering
chattering
welcoming
this day
it matters not
that the leaves
lie soggy and dead
it matters not
that the sky forgot
to be blue
the whiteness of the fog
is simply a wedding veil
to be lifted at the right moment
for morning's kiss
This is for everyone, the living and the dying, the caregivers, the loved ones: may you all find comfort, peace, and solace.
even when the questions burn
even as the dreamers yearn
even when the nights are long
even when the fears are strong
even with the great unknown
even as our prayers are sown
even with our people crying
even with our loved ones dying
there is solace in the rising sun
another day will always come
our tears are carried to the One
who knows sorrow and has won
A cold wind swept through
last night...we awakened to
angel wings flying
through clouds, embracing
a gloriously blue sky.
Our hearts soar with them
all day long, and we
carry their wings in our chests.
Exhilaration!
A poem for when you need to slow down and breathe.
This Magnificent Wild
it's not far
not far at all
look up
follow the pines
the scent is on the wind
one more step, my friend
over the threshold
and into the wild
flowers of gold
carefree as a child
there is more to life
than hustle and rush
listen to the wind
hear the sacred hush
feel your own presence
gentle and mild
embrace the pace
of this magnificent wild
Ah, yes, autumn in Acadiana. I love the beauty of nature, especially during the change of seasons in my home state of Louisiana.
Ancient oaks and shady pecan groves produce falling treasures of acorns and pecans.
Childhood memories abound, spirits soar, and hope is harvested like cotton.
Welcome to the season of Fall in the heart of Acadiana!
Leaves are not the only
things that Fall
in Acadiana
temperatures fall
in the nighttime
humidity levels fall
in the daytime
our weather see-saws
up and down
skies are clear, then rain falls
hot to cool, and maybe
a few hours of cold
if we are lucky
acorns and pecans
grace the ground
crops fall at harvest
corn and sugar cane
soybeans and sweet potatoes
darkness falls early
footsteps fall softly
feathers fall from the sky
as flocks pass through
on their southerly exodus
time falls swiftly
swirling us across the calendar
falling into winter
falling toward the end
of another year
and we fall to our knees
as the world falls apart
see-sawing again
from sorrow to joy
working to repair what we can
seeking beauty and love
remembering the fallen
honoring the circle of life
always believing
it is falling into place
always receiving
a covering of grace
